The Little Things

Walking across campus today, weaving my way through the unhurried crowds of students and hopping puddles, I realized that today I was truly happy. It was a wonderful revelation to have. Despite the fact that I have two books to read and a test to study for, the internet going out in the dorms, and having no food I could safely eat in the dining all I was completely and utterly happy and content. Part of what carried me through the day were some of the littlest things ever. I got to leave work 15 minutes early, I bought an amazing hat for $0.50 at the school rummage sale, I bought two new pens in bright green and bright orange (I can't wait to get the other colors) and I acquired some wonderful dark chocolate. Also I discovered June Jordan and Alice Walker in my English class today and I can't wait to read more of their works as both woman are amazing writers and poets and are deeply moving. I am more content today than I have been in a rather long time and I hope that I can maintain this feeling in the weeks and months to come.
